Jesus takes up his Cross

Artist: Amanda Durant

If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)

I think that Jesus carrying his cross is symbolic of Jesus carrying all the sins of the world. A heavy burden.

§ One Response to The Second Station: Jesus Takes Up His Cross

  • Anahi Galante says:

A heavy burden indeed because they are too many!!! Let us start to think about the ones right here at home: racism, homophobia, xenophobia, social intolerance, greed, social injustice, division, “othering” those who look/think/speak differently than us, plutocracies, dis-empowerment, exploitation, gossiping, insulting, acting out, putting down others, shutting out those voices we do not like to hear, choosing being angry instead of trying to understand the true meaning beyond what the other person said… I know this list is not complete and it is pretty much what is in my book of grievances about humanity and my fellow human beings…

What’s this?
